Covered All three sketches

Get paid on the stocks you already own.

You own shares. Someone will pay you today for the right to buy them from you at a higher price next month. That is a covered call, and the payment is yours whether or not they ever use the right. Covered reads your brokerage account, shows which holdings can do this, what each one pays, exactly what you'd be agreeing to, and the worst case as one number. You place the trade at your own broker.

How careful to be

Charles Schwab $325,025 Positions as of Sep 1. Premiums are for the contract ending Friday Oct 16.

What the last eight months paid

January through August 2026, from this account. April was thin: markets dropped, and sitting out beat selling calls into it. That's allowed.

What this is

Income on stocks you'd keep anyway. If you own 200 Apple and you'd happily sell them at $350, someone will pay you today for the right to buy them there next month. That payment is yours either way. Most months the price never gets there, so you keep the shares and the money. When it does, you sell at $350, the price you already said you were fine with.

What it never does

It never places a trade and never holds a dollar of yours. The connection to your broker is read-only, the same kind a budgeting app uses. When you like a line here, you go to Schwab and place it yourself.

Who it's for

People with real holdings, somewhere between a hundred thousand and a million, who have no wish to become traders. If you've got a position you'd be fine parting with at a higher price, that position can pay you while you wait.
